Mary Todd Lincoln House

(Abraham Lincoln and the Heart of America)

This stately home can be toured in Lexington, KY (Abraham Lincoln and the Heart of America)

Abraham and Mary Lincoln arrived at this home to visit her parents in 1847. (Abraham Lincoln and the Heart of America)

Henry Clay House, Lexington, KY

Monticello

Randy and Jim at the entrance to Henry Clay's home in Kentucky. Clay, Daniel Webster and John Calhoun were known as The Great Triumvirate who held the nation together for several decades before the Civil War, when weak presidents dithered. Clay, himself a candidate for president multiple times, saw his lifelong dream for that office fade because people with strong opinions on both sides of the issue called him a compromiser. Still he followed his conscience. He did serve as Speaker of the House, making it into today's powerful position, and as Secretary of State. His beautiful estate is in Lexington, KY. (Story of the World, Volume 3)

Jim joins a tour entering the home at the Henry Clay estate in Kentucky. (Randy snapped the photo, then ran to join the fascinating tour.)
